Here are some fun numbers from the NIH website (reduced to a skeleton, LOL)

  1. 3.2 billion base pairs for DNA
  2. 20,000 genes make 100,000 proteins
  3. DNA unwound in one cell placed end to end = 67 billion miles
  4. DNA from any two people are 99.9% identical
  5. One third of our genes are managed by microRNAs
  6. 98% of our DNA is not understood at this point
